Woodworking has taught Lee Seok Do patience and, more importantly, how to let go of control.
Artist Lee Seok Do loves boxing. For him, boxing is like watching two partners dance, and likens that to his relationship with wood. Wood is his partner, and if he wants to be a good partner, as an artist, he needs to bend and be flexible. But, there are some days the wood won’t dance with him. It’s taught him to let go when it’s time to. He credits woodworking to not only being his dance partner, but with being his teacher as well. The medium has taught him patience and how to let go of control. It’s only within this medium that he can sit with laser focus and lose himself and quiet his mind.
