Pure Silver Cherry Tree Sculpture

Almost 300 years ago in Jaeganjeong, Korea, a politician planted a cherry tree in front of his office. Now, the office is metal artist Eunjung Ryu’s art studio. The windswept cherry tree still stands proud and tall in front of her workspace. Eunjung Ryu painstakingly created a miniature replica of the cherry tree using 100% pure silver. The silver oxidizes and ages, leaving a finish that looks like a natural tree. The ceramic bowl which holds the silver sculpture was created by ceramist Goya Choi. Choi forages the ash of wildfire-burnt trees to create a proprietary clay with a gritty finish and deep umber color. Together, the two artists collaborated to create a unique sculpture that celebrates the continuation of the tree in its many forms and cycles.

The Pure Silver Cherry Tree Sculpture is only available for drop-off and pick up in the greater Southern California area due to its delicate nature.

Care: Sculptural bowl is filled with sand at the artist’s request. You may feel free to change it to pebbles or other grounding weights. Please use care when dusting. We suggest compressed air.
