Reclaimed Teak, fishing line, 1 j-hook included
Dimensions: See dropdown

The wood used in the mobile is teak, sourced from an old tree. The lumber was obtained during the remodeling of an aging wooden house. To avoid losing the texture and color of time, no finishing agent was used other than simple sanding. Each shape is different, and every piece is sketched and cut by the artist himself. The sculpture depicts flowing rain and raindrops, the moon and clouds, stars and constellations.

How would you feel if it rained tomorrow?

Note: Namu Home Goods GIFT SHOP item. This piece is not gallery-quality, but instead for everyday use and enjoyment. Each piece of teak is different on the front and backside due to the natural material. The images are the Reclaimed Teak Mobiles laid flat. For a more accurate look at the movement of the mobiles, please refer to this Instagram video

Care: Dust occasionally.

Yoo Hyun Sculpture brancusi

The memories and emotions from his childhood be absorbed into his work.

Wood sculpture artists Yoo Hyun studied landscape design (as his father did). He loves antique and vintage furniture, so he gravitated towards (and fell in love with) the trees and wood as a material. In 2019, he left his landscape design career and started making furniture. After only a year building furniture, he switched to sculpture. In furniture design, he felt constrained within the parameters and designs of clients. With sculpture, he can create purely alone, which makes his work feel fun. It’s been three years since he started his sculpture practice, and he most enjoys the process of finding wood for his sculptures. His studio is an hour outside of Seoul in his gutted childhood home –– which makes many of the memories and emotions from his childhood be absorbed into his work.
