When we first encountered Enjung Ryu’s metalwork, we were firstly in awe of its hyper delicate form, and secondly her very apparent love and appreciation for nature. Most of her work are metal castings of leaves, bark, fruits, and flowers –– capturing what would decompose for a lifetime. She works to never disturb nature, but instead these pieces were made when she took a walk in the forest after the rain. She picked up the fragile leaves that had been broken by rain and wind, or the parts that had been cut by people or bugs that reached the side of the trail. She wanted to give them eternal life with the properties of metal.

These pieces were created by composing soft pieces of nature into brass and fine silver pieces. They’ve been attached to rock pieces or from driftwood. These smaller sculptures can be used to enjoy or as paperweights. We have a larger 1 of 1 sculpture with a beautiful story coming next month.
